Helstu verkefni og ábyrgð:
- Þróun og innleiðing upplýsingatæknistefnu og umbóta í samræmi við markmið fyrirtækisins
- Forysta, þjálfun og þróun upplýsingatækniteymis til að tryggja árangur og frammistöðu
- Ábyrgð á rekstri upplýsingatæknikerfa, notendastuðningi, samþættingu og fjárhagsáætlun deildarinnar
- Tryggja framboð, öryggi og skilvirkni kerfa. Framkvæma reglulegt öryggismat og þjálfun starfsmanna
- Stjórnun og eftirlit með birgjum, þjónustusamningum og utanaðkomandi ráðgjöfum
- Samstarf við aðrar deildir til að greina þarfir og innleiða árangursríkar upplýsingatæknilausnir
- Viðamikil reynsla (5+ ár) af stjórnun upplýsingatæknireksturs í gagnaveri, fyrirtæki eða öðrum vettvangi
- Yfirgripsmikil þekking á netkerfum, fyrirtækja hugbúnaði (t.d. Office 365) og upplýsingaöryggis stöðlum (t.d. ISO)
- Yfirgripsmikil þekking á netöryggi
- Reynsla af vinnu með utanaðkomandi ráðgjöfum
- Framúrskarandi enskukunnátta, í ræðu og riti

- Provide overall leadership and direction for Borealis’ IT function, ensuring systems, processes, and governance frameworks support business and operational goals.
- Develop and execute the IT strategy in alignment with the data center’s operational and business objectives in collaboration with the COO.
- Drive adoption of new technologies and processes that improve efficiency and scalability.
- Establish and maintain IT governance, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and security best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Provide hands-on leadership, balancing in-house capability with outsourced expertise.
- Manage the day-to-day IT environment, including networks, monitoring tools, user support, and facility system integrations.
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of mission-critical systems supporting data center operations.
- Ensure data security, backup, and disaster recovery and business continuity planning are in place, guaranteeing rapid response to IT incidents.
- Drive the successful implementation and integration of new IT systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and full alignment with business requirements.
- Provide guidance and hands-on support during system rollouts, upgrades, and migrations.
- Assess and analyze organizational needs for new software or tools, in cooperation with the relevant person within the company, recommending optimal solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Own and manage the IT budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, cost control, and alignment with business priorities.
- Maintain and enhance cybersecurity measures to safeguard internal systems and data.
- Work closely with the Director of Compliance to ensure alignment with organizational security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, threat detection, and staff security awareness training in cooperation with the Director of Compliance.
- Manage external IT consultants and service providers, ensuring clear roles, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Oversee vendor SLAs and performance reviews for hardware, software, and managed services.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify IT needs and ensure effective solutions.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who brings both technical depth and a hands-on leadership style. Ideally you’ll have:
- Proven experience (5+ years) managing IT operations in a data center, enterprise, or mission-critical environment.
- Extensive knowledge of networking, enterprise applications (e.g., Office 365), and IT security frameworks.
- Strong expertise in cybersecurity, including frameworks, best practices, and threat mitigation strategies.
- Experience working with external consultants and managing outsourced IT functions.
- Familiarity with compliance standards (ISO, security certifications) and their operational requirements.
- Excellent English skills both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
